DescriptionThe ECOWAS Commission organised, on Wednesday 15 April 2026 at its Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, a ceremony of recognition and appreciation in honour of its staff members from the AES countries, namely Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali, whose contracts came to an end on 15 April 2026. The ceremony was held in the presence of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr Omar Alieu Touray, the Auditor-General of ECOWAS Institutions, H.E. João Alage Mamadu Fadia, the Commissioner for Internal Services, Dr Habibu Bappah, the Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture, Dr Kalilou Sylla, the Director of Human Resources, Dr Vitorino Bamba, as well as other Directors of the Commission.
During the ceremony, which combined recognition and reflection, speakers underscored the central role of staff in the implementation of the Commission’s mandate, while paying tribute to colleagues from Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. Their contributions were acknowledged with dignity, reaffirming the value of their commitment to West Africa and to the promotion of regional integration, peace and development.
