DescriptionAs part of activities commemorating its Golden Jubilee, ECOWAS, through its Resident Representative Office in Sierra Leone and the Directorate of Environment and Natural Resources, organized a large-scale beach clean-up exercise along the Lumley and Aberdeen coastline in Freetown on 16th May 2026, under the theme, “Say No to Plastic Pollution: Clean Environment, Healthy Future.”
The initiative brought together government institutions, environmental stakeholders, youth groups, civil society organizations, media practitioners, and community volunteers in a united effort to promote environmental sustainability, responsible waste management, and citizen-driven action toward cleaner and healthier communities across West Africa.
