DescriptionThe ECOWAS Directorate of Research and Statistics has launched a series of Technical Working Group (TWG) workshops in Abuja, Nigeria, from 17 April to 7 May 2026, focused on aligning and finalising key statistical documents in English, French, and Portuguese. The sessions cover critical areas including national accounts (annual and quarterly), Industrial Production Index (IPI), business registers, public finance, public debt, and external trade statistics—aimed at strengthening data harmonisation and comparability across Member States.
Speaking at the opening, Acting Director Prof. Felix Fofana N’ZUE stressed the need for consistency with international standards and a shared understanding of methodologies. Experts from across the region are working in specialised groups to refine these frameworks and improve data quality for effective decision-making.
