DescriptionThe Commandants of ECOWAS Training Centres of Excellence (TCE), held a meeting from September 15th to 17th, 2025, at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Teshie, Ghana. The meeting brought together heads of training institutions, policy leaders and partners. The purpose of the meeting was to review progress, assess operational gaps and align training priorities with the evolving regional security landscape.
The Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security, Amb. Abdel-Fatau Musah, stated that the gathering was crucial for linking training modules to research outcomes to ensure programs are both needs-based and evidence-driven and also aligning training and research with the Peace and Security agenda.
Ambassador Mohammed Lawan Gana, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Ghana, emphasized the meeting's importance given the escalating insecurity in the Sahel and its spillover effects. He stressed the need for renewed focus and political will to address instability, strengthen peace and security frameworks and enhance the capacities of the Training Centres of Excellence.
