DescriptionThe Long-Term Election Observation Mission (LTEOM) of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), deployed ahead of the presidential election scheduled for 25th October 2025 in Côte d’Ivoire, has officially commenced its activities.
The launch ceremony, held on 3rd October 2025 at the ECOWAS Resident Representation Office in Abidjan, was presided over by H.E. Ambassador Fanta Cissé, Resident Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission in Côte d’Ivoire.
In her remarks, Ambassador Cissé welcomed and congratulated the team of experts, emphasizing the critical importance of the mission in consolidating democracy and stability in the country. She underscored the key role of long-term observers in monitoring the entire electoral process, gathering and analysing field information, and contributing to the prevention and resolution of potential tensions, while reaffirming her continued support to the team throughout the mission.
