DescriptionA three-day Proofreading and Finalisation Workshop to produce the book titled “ECOWAS AT 50: A JOURNEY OF RESILIENCE AND A PROMISE FOR A BETTER FUTURE” has begun in Niger State, Nigeria. Organised by the Office of the Vice President of the ECOWAS Commission with the support of the Government of Germany, the Workshop holding from 7-9 April, 2026, aims to review and finalise the draft manuscript for the book.
The workshop is moderated by Prof. Abdullahi SHEHU, a renowned diplomat, academic and prolific writer. The book will provide Community citizens, partners, and stakeholders with a deeper understanding and appreciation of ECOWAS, highlighting its key achievements, challenges and lessons learned in regional integration and outline future pathways. The objectives of the book are to: take stock of ECOWAS major achievements over the past 50 years; inform citizens about ECOWAS institutions, organs, and specialized agencies; develop an informative and accessible guide for all ECOWAS citizens ; outline the next steps for ECOWAS’ future and enhance the organisation’s communication with its Member States, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), youth, West African universities and development partners.
