DescriptionA delegation from the ECOWAS Commission, acting on behalf of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H E Dr. Omar Alieu Touré, and the Commissioner for Social Affairs, Professor Fatou Sow Sarr is in Conakry, Republic of Guinea for a five (5) day 6 –10 April 2026 for a field Mission to assess the impact of ECOWAS’s 2024 flood response, and to officially launch an emergency assistance project valued at USD 604,576 to support victims of the devastating 2025 floods and landslides in the Republic of Guinea.
The launch ceremony was marked by the symbolic presentation of a cheque amounting to USD 604,576 to the Guinean Government, represented by Mr. Mohammed C.K. Camara, Secretary General of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization. This initiative aims to reinforce ECOWAS regional solidarity in addressing the growing humanitarian challenges across Member States.
