DescriptionOn the eve of the joint launch of a series of initiatives led by the ECOWAS Department of Economic Affairs and Agriculture to strengthen economic integration in West Africa, several Technical Directors addressed the local and international press on Monday, 27 April 2026 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. These included Mr Albert Siaw-Boateng, Director of Free Movement; Mr Kolawole Sofola, Director of Trade; Mr Siméon Koffi, Executive Director of the Regional Competition Authority (ERCA); Mr Kanfitin Konlani, Executive Director of the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (ARAA); Mr Peter Oluonye, Acting Director of Private Sector and Industry; Mr Darlingston Talery, Acting Director of Customs; and Mr Bernard Yao Koffi, Acting Director of Environment.
The purpose of the press conference was to present these initiatives, which aim to deepen regional integration, strengthen the ECOWAS common market, promote investment, improve food and nutrition security, facilitate the safe movement of people and goods, and support environmental sustainability across Member States. These efforts are aligned with the ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the broader objectives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
