DescriptionBRUSSELS / ABOMEY-CALAVI
On July 8, 2026, RELP signed a Cooperation Agreement with the West African Power Pool (WAPP). This partnership supports the development of West Africa’s Regional Electricity Market and aims to facilitate clean energy investment across the region.
WAPP is currently entering a pivotal phase, strengthening the implementation of the Regional Electricity Market, preparing to launch a Day-Ahead Market and synchronising national electricity networks across 15 countries. To support these efforts and further regional integration, RELP will offer pro bono institutional capacity strengthening by embedding key expertise directly within the WAPP Secretariat and providing independent advisory support on project de-risking and blended finance solutions to assist in the development of new regional transmission interconnectors, clean energy and energy storage projects.
