The ECOWAS Election Observation Mission (EOM) met with the National Election Commission, CNE, led by Acting Chairman Mr. N’Pabi Cabi, as part of its stakeholder engagements ahead of Guinea-Bissau’s Presidential and Legislative Elections on 23 November 2025. The consultation reviewed the CNE’s operational readiness, logistical arrangements and institutional safeguards to ensure transparency, credibility and inclusiveness.
The ECOWAS team, led by Serigne Mamadou Ka, Acting Head of the Electoral Assistance Division (EAD), reaffirmed the Mission’s mandate to observe the process with neutrality and respect for national sovereignty, while Mr. Cabi reiterated the CNE’s commitment to conducting the elections in line with national legislation and emphasised continued cooperation with ECOWAS to strengthen public trust and ensure peaceful and orderly polling.
The Medium- and Short-Term Mission, deployed by ECOWAS Commission President Dr Omar Alieu Touray under the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance, continues consultations with governmental authorities, political actors, civil society, security institutions and international partners. ECOWAS reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Guinea-Bissau’s democratic consolidation, peace and stability.
